It is very important to protect your financial information from phishing if you are doing any online transactions. Most of the internet criminals infect user’s system by spyware that records financial information while the user is logged into his bank account. A report says that most of the telecoms and finance companies have lost their financial data due to phishing. As per Gavin Patterson, group managing director at BT:
Identity theft has become a real threat to all internet users. It is increasingly important that customers use the right tools to ensure they are protected.
But most of the companies are installing the anti-spyware software to get rid of internet fraud. Susan Collie, 27, a secretary from Falkirk, Stirlingshire does most of her transactions online and for that purpose she has installed security software that is updated automatically. BT also has installed security package on its broadband, for protection from fraudulent e-mails and phishing.
In a nutshell it is always better to protect your identity with the help of anti-spyware software, firewall protection and insure your security even if you have to pay for it. As per Yahoo, 61 per cent of computer owners use one main password whenever possible. Such carelessness leads to the leakage of financial information over net, therefore you should use a different password for every different account you maintain.
