How does e-filing help the Internal Revenue system? Well it helps the tax preparers as well as the tax payers. Electronic filing of taxreturns is much more cost-effective as it reduces the costs incurred while delegating the task to the college kids, who used to feed the tax returns from paper to the system.
(Internal Revenue Service)IRS spokesman Luis Garcia said that,
More and more taxpayers are using e-file and last year we saw more Michigan taxpayers file electronically than file by paper. It’s fast, secure and easy.Well for the tax preparers it is a Herculean task as they have to make the software according to the needs of their clients and then update the information and keep a track of it once an information is entered. Moreover, the annual expenses of the software can range anywhere from $7000 to $15,000 depending upon the exceptional festures of the software. But the accounting firms opt for the e-filing software as they are less expensive than the paper file.
As far as the tax payers are concerned it is the most comfortable option for them, apart from Quicken and Money. Electronic filing helps the tax payers to prepare their tax returns at home. They can purchase a tax filing software, online or in retail locations and get rid of penalties, messing up of tax returns documents and above all accountants.
IRS and Free File alliance have now developed a Free File software targeting the low and middle income tax payers, with a gross income of less than $50,000.
IRS Commissioner Mark Everson said in a press release:
3 million people previously eligible for TeleFile, an option that is no longer available, automatically qualify for Free File this year.
On the basis of the tax filings through the e-filing sysytem in 2005 the Internal Revenue Service is looking forward to process 4.5 million individual tax returns this year from the Michigan, and this system will get more filings on tax returns, from the whole of the US in the days to come.
Electronic filing is the most convenient method to pay your taxes sitting at home, so avail of this very secured and organized tax-filing system.
