Today is the closing day of filing your return if you are not staying in Massachusetts and Maine. Don’t panic if you have not done that yet. Just gear up your self to calculate your return carefully and either file it right finally or otherwise file for an extension.



And late taxpayers are advised to not be inconsiderate regarding this issue. Otherwise it would be very easy for IRS to prove that you have willfully not filed the return. And they can slap you a criminal fine as much as $ 25,000 or you may be send for jail directly.



Don’t feel pressurized if you are doing it today. Don’t think that you don’t do well under pressure; the cry of the day is file your return. If you make any mistake or you have missed any deduction, you have another three years from the due date of your return to rectify your mistakes.



If you are unable to file it today, just file for extension. Even in this case you need to calculate your tax liability, no matter this is an extension to file, not to pay. If you pay more than you owed you will get that money back as refund.
