For those who need more time to file their 2005 tax return, are running in luck. Thanks to CPAs and Internal Revenue service for revising its tax rules which enables most of the taxpayers to get an automatic six-month tax return filing extension.



The revised rule replaces the complicated two step process. Earlier, the tax payer had to make a request for an extension for four months and later the second request for the extension of another two months.



And if you are a U.S. citizen staying out of the country, you are allowed two extra months to file your return and pay any amount due without requesting. However, interest will be assessed on unpaid tax from the original due date of return.
