
Prepaid credit cards have existed for years and have been commonly available in the United States and now Visa New Zealand is making efforts to take these credit cards to a higher level in order to offer added protection from online identity theft and also prevent their abuse by young people. These prepaid cards have become a de facto means for conducting commercial online and it is expected that the market for these cards would move beyond gift giving and people who cannot avail regular credit cards.
It is expected that the prepaid credit card market would expand further and will emerge as a de facto tool for online shopping. Up till now these cards were marketed as a means for meeting the desires of kids for credit cards but this is expected to change with the revolution coming in the prepaid credit card industry.
