As per the KASIKORN Research Center (KRC), users of credit cards are quite careful regarding spending and prefer to use incentives given by card issuers under the current sluggish economic situation. The Thai economy has been facing problems with regard to rising interest rates, volatile fuel prices and political uncertainties but credit card loans are still on the rise.

As per the survey conducted by KRC the sluggish economy has been a major influencing factor for credit card holders. The survey also stated that consumers were selective regarding spending and on an average a person held three credit cards as they want to utilize the incentives offered through usage of card such as discounts offered for buying services and products and most of them were spending around 5,000-10,000 baht per month per head.
